چکیده

We consider the fictitious domain method with H1-penalty for a parabolic problem. First, the sharp error estimate for the H1penalty problem approximating the original problem is derived. Then, we present some regularity analysis and prior estimate to the H1-penalty problem. The finite element approximation is investigated for discrete problems of two types, “continuous-time” and “single-step backward”. To perform the numerical computation, we provide an approximation scheme for the “single-step backward” discrete problem as well as its error estimate. The theoretical result is verified using our numerical experiment.

Analysis of the Fictitious Domain Method with L 2 - Penalty for Elliptic and Parabolic Problems

Analysis of the fictitious domain method with L 2-penalty for elliptic and parabolic problems Abstract. The fictitious domain method with L 2-penalty for elliptic and parabolic problems are considered, respectively. The regularity theorems and a priori estimates for L 2-penalty problems are given. We derive error estimates for penalization and finite element interpolation with P 1-element. Nume...

Analysis of the Fictitious Domain Method with Penalty for Elliptic Problems

The fictitious domain method with H1-penalty for elliptic problems is considered. We propose a new way to derive the sharp error estimates between the solutions of original elliptic problems and their H1-penalty problems. We find our method of analysis is applicable to parabolic problems while retaining the sharpness of the error estimates. We also prove some regularity theorems for H1-penalty ...

Valuation of installment option by penalty method

In this paper, installment options on the underlying asset which evolves according to Black-Scholes model and pays constant dividend to its owner will be considered. Applying arbitrage pricing theory, the non-homogeneous parabolic partial differential equation governing the value of installment option is derived. Then, penalty method is used to value the European continuous installment call opt...

Finite Element Method for American Option Pricing: a Penalty Approach

The model for pricing of American option gives rise to a parabolic variational inequality. We first use penalty function approach to reformulate it as an equality problem. Since the problem is defined on an unbounded domain, we truncate it to a bounded domain and discuss error due to truncation and penalization. Finite element method is then applied to the penalized problem on the truncated dom...

Element Free Galerkin Method for Static Analysis of Thin Micro/Nanoscale Plates Based on the Nonlocal Plate Theory

In this article, element free Galerkin method is used for static analysis of thin micro/nanoscale plates based on the nonlocal plate theory. The problem is solved for the plates with arbitrary boundary conditions. Since shape functions of the element free Galerkin method do not satisfy the Kronecker’s delta property, the penalty method is used to impose the essential boundary conditions. Discre...
